Leadership Development Denver, Colorado – 2015

Leadership Development Denver, Colorado – 2015

Leadership development Denver, Colorado. As you are putting a plan together for 2015 and you consider your personal, leadership team and organizational growth, there are four dimensions that we suggest you consider.
In our work with leaders and teams we see recurring themes of breakdown, that if addressed and planned for, could be turned into breakthroughs.
1. Got inspiration?

What squashes inspiration in yourself, your team and your organization? If I could point to one thing I would say that it is STRESS. Stress is just another way of saying FEAR. When we go about our day-to-day work under constant pressure of deadlines and doing – there isn’t time or space for new, creative ideas and solutions to arise. In an environment like that it is easy for innovation to be ignored.

“We are too busy” is a common leader and workplace refrain. Too busy to handle conflict well, to grow ourselves and our team, to have productive meetings and to laugh. Indeed, busyness might be the addiction of our age. It actually gives us a boost to run on adrenaline all day long.

So, ask yourself first of all – when was the last time I had a truly inspired new idea? When I was in the shower? Hiking in nature? Cooking dinner?Everyone needs those moments when we are in a more relaxed state and can get into a creative flow. It helps us solve problems differently – as Einstein said – problems can’t be solved from the same level at which they were created.  So, get inspired!
2. Focus on People
A lot of leaders have gotten to the top because they were great achievers pushing their way towards results. It is common that these leaders may have developed few people skills because they have not focused on or valued developing their emotional intelligence. Everything in the business world happens as a result of a relationship.Relationship with self, team members, clients, etc. According to MBTI research – more than HALF the population make decisions through their “feeling” function. In other words, they consider the impact of their decisions on other people.  Do you?
In your plan for 2015 consider how you are growing your emotional intelligence skills. This would include things that may seem basic but are underdeveloped in many leaders.
  • How well do you adapt your communication style to others?
  • Do you get feedback from others that you are good listener – or not?
  • How well do you get buy-in for your ideas?
  • Do you focus on growing the people on your team to be their best?
  • Do you intimidate others or do they feel comfortable sharing ideas with you?
3. Grow Yourself

As you know I believe that leadership is a path of growth. Two of the best ways to grow yourself are tosolicit feedback from others and get coaching.
We have a great 360 degree tool that gives you focused feedback from your choice of direct reports, peers, supervisors and others and gives you a visual of your self assessment and how it compares to your raters assessment. Our clients have found it very useful (and sometimes surprising) to see that they might see themselves very differently from how others see them.

The 360 can be paired with executive coaching, or executive coaching can be a stand-alone service. It is our opinion that many leaders at the Director level or above need to have an executive coach on a regular basis in order to grow themselves and their teams. 4. Creating and Modeling your Ideal Corporate Culture

If someone asked you, what is your corporate culture like, what would you say? Would it be a random discourse of impressions and “culture by default” or has your corporate culture been well thought out and modeled by leaders and team members alike? Corporate culture is not just what is written in a mission statement.
Corporate culture is the cumulative set of ideas, beliefs, values, knowledge, rituals, myths and behavior, which are learned, shared and enacted by a group of people over time. This either happens with intention and constant focus or it “just happens” by default.
